"By no means shall ye attain righteousness unless ye give (freely) of that which ye love; and whatever ye give, of a truth Allah knoweth it well."(3:92). As-Salamu Alaykum The Muslim Association of Lehigh Valley (MALV) represents a multi-ethnic and rapidly growing community of Muslims residing in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania. Our community center is a 14,000 sq. foot building on 7 acres of land. The property includes a mosque, library, full-time elementary school and weekend Islamic school. In August 2004, we started our full-time elementary school, the MALV Islamic Academy (MALVIA), with 14 students and three teachers offering classes from pre-kindergarten through first grade. Over the past few years, the school has steadily grown to its current size of about 90 students between pre-school and fourth grade. In addition to the full-time school, we now have about 250 students in our weekend Islamic school, Alhamdulillah! The growth of our community is a blessing from Allah but comes with new challenges. Our facilities have reached maximum capacity, making it difficult for us to offer new programs and services. We currently conduct six classes for our weekend school in the prayer hall, lobby and social hall. These environments are not suitable for learning and our children deserve better. In addition, the building we currently use for our fulltime school was not designed as a school and lacks basic facilities such as a laboratory, library, gymnasium and cafeteria. In Allah's name, we have decided to meet these challenges by launching a $2.5 Million expansion project. Our goal is to establish a nationally-recognized Islamic educational institution that strives to foster excellence in secular as well as religious knowledge. While our ambitions are lofty, we also recognize our inability to do this without help. We first ask Allah to support us in this endeavor and ask you to help us in our hour of need. Without this expansion, our students will have no recourse but to attend public school after fourth grade. Every contribution, great or small, will have a share in the reward from the benefits offered from this institution. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: ' Whoever starts a good thing and is followed by others, will have his own reward and a reward equal to that of those who follow him, without it detracting from their reward in any way'. Furthermore, Allah has also guaranteed a reward for those who sincerely give for His cause. "Those who spend their possessions (for the sake of God) by night and by day, secretly and openly, shall have their reward with their Sustainer; and no fear need they have, and neither shall they grieve." (2:274) There are many ways that you can help us make this project a reality: 1. Contribute financially. No amount is too small in the sight of Allah. Please consider a tax-deductable donation towards this project and we pray that Allah accept it as Sadaqah Jaariyah. Jazakallah Khayran |
